How Syrve Works 14 - Syrve POS for Android & iOS

After a four-month hiatus, our How Syrve Works series is back with a flexible new product designed to optimise front-of-house operations at a time when speed and convenience have never been more important. It’s an app called Syrve POS for Android & iOS.

What is Syrve POS for Android & iOS?

Syrve POS for Android & iOS is a tablet-based POS app aimed at independent coffee shops and QSRs, as well as larger chains. Featuring a simple, user-friendly interface, it allows staff to easily manage orders and payments.

For independent coffee shops and QSRs, it's an affordable and convenient POS solution. For larger QSR and coffee shop chains, its connection to Syrve’s wider system provides a clear operational advantage, combining an optimised, streamlined point-of-sale experience with centralised operational control.

Why Small Independents Need Tablet-Based POS Solutions

Small QSRs and coffee shops often need a more affordable and adaptable alternative to traditional fixed terminals. Space is often limited, which means that fixed POS terminals aren’t always suitable. Servers also need to move between different areas.

Scalability can also become an issue when operators need to add devices, whether to increase ordering capacity or open another location. Beyond the additional cost, installing more hardware can also create unnecessary disruption.

Why Chain Operators Need An Integrated, Scalable Solution

At chain-level, front-of-house flexibility is only half the battle. Head office also needs consistent control over menus, pricing, stock and performance across every location.

As it stands, many lightweight tablet POS systems are designed primarily to process orders and payments at individual sites. For chains, this can create a number of problems.

Reporting may become fragmented across locations, local menus can drift out of sync and inventory visibility may be limited at estate level.

Syrve POS for Android & iOS - Key Features

Syrve POS for Android & iOS reconciles the need for front-of-house simplicity with the operational control required behind the scenes. Here’s a rundown of its key features.

User-Friendly Interface

Syrve’s main POS is widely recognised for its intuitive, easy-to-use dashboard. Syrve POS for Android & iOS takes this a step further with a UI that’s optimised for high-volume order entry.

Orders can be entered, adjusted and processed through a streamlined interface. The resulting sales activity then flows into the Syrve ecosystem, where it’s factored into reporting, inventory monitoring and wider operational oversight.

Items can also be added and removed in fewer clicks, helping staff to process orders quickly during peak times without slowing service.

Multi-Channel Order Management

Syrve POS for Android & iOS offers genuine omnichannel order management. Every order channel can be managed through the same system, giving staff a clear view of active orders and reducing the need to switch between separate platforms or interfaces.

Easy Menu Management

As well as easy dish selection, Syrve POS for Android & iOS allows staff to apply extras and substitutions with minimal fuss. Discounts and price adjustments can also be added quickly, along with notes about specific customer requests. As a result, customised orders can be processed faster and more accurately.

Offline Operation

An offline mode is also included, which allows order processing during an internet interruption. With data synchronised once a connection is restored, service can continue with minimal disruption, and temporary connectivity issues are less likely to result in lost sales.

SyrvePay Compatibility

Syrve POS for Android & iOS is fully compatible with SyrvePay, which means that you can accept and manage payments within Syrve, helping you to avoid fragmented systems and complicated third-party payment integrations.

Use a Second Tablet as a KDS

Further underlining the flexibility of Syrve POS for Android & iOS, operators can add a secondary tablet to an existing setup and use it as a KDS. Apart from reducing additional hardware costs, this gives kitchen teams a dedicated view of incoming orders without requiring a separate specialist display system - a big advantage for establishments where space is tight.

Consistent Processes Across Locations

Syrve POS for Android & iOS supports operational consistency by providing staff with the same streamlined front-of-house experience while keeping each location connected to a shared platform. Because of this, order processing and the recording of critical data are standardised across the business.

Consolidated Sales Reporting

Because Syrve POS for Android & iOS connects with Syrve’s back office, sales data feeds into a wider reporting environment. Managers therefore gain a more consolidated view of performance without requiring each site to produce and submit separate reports. This means less admin and greater visibility.

Shared Inventory and Operational Data

Sales activity from each location remains connected to Syrve’s back office, meaning that inventory data is automatically updated and can be viewed within the same ecosystem. This provides a more coherent picture of stock movement, sales activity and costs across the business.

Better Cost Control

With sales and inventory data fed into Syrve, managers have the ability to track margins, identify discrepancies and align staffing more closely with expected demand, helping to reduce unnecessary costs while protecting service levels and profitability.

Easier Scaling

The lightweight, flexible framework that defines Syrve POS for Android & iOS makes it easier to increase ordering capacity as requirements change. Additional service points can be introduced on compatible tablets or handheld devices without installing another complete fixed POS setup.

We now move on to setup. Bear in mind that this is intended as a rough guide. For detailed instructions visit the Knowledge Base page.

How to Set Up Syrve POS for Android & iOS

Syrve POS for Android & iOS supports tablets running Android 7 or later and iPadOS 13 or later.
It’s compatible with the following Apple devices:

  • iPad 5+
  • iPad mini 4+
  • iPad Air 2+
  • iPad Pro 2017+

Before installation, you’ll need the following:

  • A store connected to Syrve
  • An active licence for the app
  • A payment terminal for accepting card payments
  • A receipt printer
  • Stores, groups, sections and floor plans already set up
  • Configured access permissions.

Once you’re ready, visit either Google Play or the App Store to download the app onto your chosen tablet device.

Set up a Printer

In order to print tickets, you’ll need to set up a printer. This can be done once you’ve installed the Syrve POS for Android & iOS app.

Navigate to Settings, then Equipment and Printing Settings and specify the printer name. A wizard will guide you through the process, providing you with a test print option. Once complete, save the changes.

You should then map the printer to the right section of your restaurant, via Print Job Routing.

Connect a Payment Terminal

You’ll also need to connect a payment terminal to the app. In Settings > Equipment and Printing Settings, select Payment Terminal and enter the device name. Select the appropriate driver from the drop-down menu, click Next and follow the instructions for your chosen payment terminal and click Save.

From here, you should assign the payment terminal to Payment Types (if you’re not using SyrvePay). This is done in Settings > Equipment and Printing. Open Payment Type and select the terminal you created.

Once connected, the payment amount displayed on your chosen tablet will also display on the terminal automatically, thereby reducing manual errors.

Syrve Office Configuration

After initial configuration has been completed, you then connect your POS tablet in Syrve Office, generate a connection code and enter it into the app.

To do this, open Syrve Office, navigate to Administration, Equipment Settings and click Add. In the Computer Section, add your tablet device and select OK.

One of the final steps is to link a cash register to your tablet device. This is also performed in Equipment Settings. When you’ve done this, you can generate a connection code which is entered into your tablet.

As already mentioned, the above is intended as a rough guide on how to install the Syrve POS for Android & iOS app. But the process is a relatively straightforward one.

Final Thoughts

Syrve POS for Android & iOS gives operators a more flexible way to manage front-of-house service without sacrificing the wider operational control provided by Syrve.

For smaller coffee shops and QSRs, that means a more affordable and adaptable alternative to traditional fixed terminals. For larger chains, it means adding flexible ordering points while keeping sales, inventory and reporting connected across the business.

That combination makes it very well suited to operators that want a simpler front-of-house setup without creating disconnected systems behind the scenes.

As customer expectations continue to shift towards faster and more convenient service, that flexibility is only likely to become more valuable.
