Why Dark Kitchens are the Restaurant Industry's White Knight

New start-up restaurants and delivery firms are scrambling to set up Dark Kitchens to serve multi-branded eateries online.

A spike of demand for online food delivery services has resulted from the COVID-19 government lockdown and restaurants closing their doors.

For consumers, the new normal is to opt for Deliveroo and Uber Eats food delivery – not just among the fast-food fanatical millennials and Gen Z, but for the whole UK population.

Even when we re-emerge from the COVID-19 government lockdown the trend is likely to continue.

In other countries, flats without kitchens are not uncommon and luxury shared amenity kitchens are out of favour as young professionals turn away from home cooking.Syrve_Speak with an Expert Banner

The UK is likely to follow as new habits form for online convenience and food delivery under the lockdown, for all ages.

On average, it takes around two months before a new behaviour becomes automatic – 66 days to be exact.

The clock is ticking.

So now’s a great time to set up delivery-only kitchens – dark kitchens, ghost kitchens, virtual and online kitchens of any shape and size. There’s a large UK population of hungry, bored remote workers looking for online food delivery and choice.
